During our visits to Valencia, we stayed at Holiday Inn and Ibis Budget Hotel, and we share our experiences, so you can choose the most suitable for your stay in Valencia.
Holiday Inn Express Valencia-Ciudad Las Ciencias
This is our number #1 recommendation for the best place to stay in Valencia. Our stay here was so comfortable and everything we needed was right on the doorstep.
Located within minutes of the City of Arts and Sciences, the Oceanografic Aquarium, the Hemisferic IMAX Cinema, Turia River Park and the El Saler shopping mall.
Public transport links offer easy access to the Old Town and most iconic attractions in Valencia.
The room was comfortable and spacious with a double bed, a sofa with a table, tea and coffee making facilities, TV and a fully equipped bathroom. Small storage space for our suitcases and clothing is available. Free Wi-Fi available throughout the hotel.

Ibis Budget Valencia Aeropuerto is a more affordable hotel and conveniently located on the doorsteps of Valencia Airport. Ideal if you have a flight to catch early in the morning or late at night.

We chose to stay at Ibis Budget due to it convenient location to the airport and public transport links to Valencia city centre.
The rooms offer basic amenities, including a comfortable bed and spacious room and bathroom, desk and chair, and TV.
While this is a functional hotel, it is minimalist, with no tea or coffee making facilities and the cupboard space was just enough room to hang some clothing.
Breakfast isn’t complimentary, although you can book breakfast for an additional fee via your booking.
We must admit, the staff while they are friendly, we just didn’t get the same vibe compared to Holiday Inn Express.
This is a great spot if you’re looking for a minimalistic stay, that’s comfortable and convenient at an affordable price.
Guidelines for choosing the right accommodation
Depending on your style of travel, choosing the right accommodation options is important.
We have some simple tips to help you choose your comfortable accommodation in Valencia.
Budget considerations
It’s essential to choose the right accommodation based upon your budget and what aligns with your travel expenses.
Define how much you’re prepared to spend on accommodation per night and be realistic, by doing some research before booking. By having a defined budget, this will help you stay on track and not overspend.
Our budget on accommodation in Valencia was no more than €80.00 per night. We spent €160.00 at Holiday Inn Express for 2 nights which is €80 per night and €392 for 3 nights and 2 rooms at Ibis Budget. Staying at Ibis Budget works out to bring us around €10 under our budget per night.
Although our budget is a mid-range budget, you could opt to stay in a hostel, which will bring your spend to under €50 a night.
Consider value for money when researching and booking your place to stay in Valencia. Will you get a relaxed and comfortable night’s sleep, are the staff friendly, welcoming and helpful. Do you require pool facilities and breakfast or meals, etc.
Be as flexible as you can with your travel dates as this will vastly alter how much you’ll pay on accommodation. Weekdays are often cheaper than weekends, during the shoulder months and off season the price drops compared to the peak summer months.
Location preferences
Once we have set our budget, our next step is to consider the location.
We would recommend accommodation that’s within proximity to public transport links and easy access to the top tourist destinations.
Safety is paramount! Research the neighbourhood and choose places that are affordable, comfortable and safe, especially for solo travellers at night.
Amenities available
Take into consideration the amenities and facilities available. Our main must haves of any accommodation are free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning/heating, breakfast options, 24-hour reception and non-smoking rooms.
While a swimming pool and gym facilities are not a must, it’s sometimes a bonus if they are available.
Reading the reviews is a must. Guests will share their honest opinion and experiences of their stay, which will give you an insight into whether the accommodation is a right fit for you.
We look at the most recent reviews, to understand how our stay might be. If we see more negative reviews than positive, it is a sign that the accommodation provider is not providing the level of service we would like to experience.
While if the reviews are positive, we would expect to receive a positive stay.
Leaving a review is so important for other guests looking to stay at these places too.

Compare prices and deals
Shop around and compare prices to pick up the most affordable deal for you.
Pay attention to any special deals available or sign up and get notified when prices drop. You could find yourself saving some money on accommodation.
Best time to book for the most competitive prices
This will greatly depend on season, events and demand.
In general, we would recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment, especially during the peak summer months of June to September.
In our experience, travelling during the shoulder months or winter months offer affordable accommodation prices, while still experiencing mild conditions.
Compare prices to find the best deal that’s within your budget.
