The service provided from arrival to our departure was outstanding. The receptionist checked us in quickly and efficiently, the staff in the hotel are polite and helpful, and with a wealth of knowledge.
At our request, we were provided with a staff member, who provided us with the local history of Sigiriya and the hotel, but also gave us ideas on places to visit in the local area.
Our room was of a very good size, clean and tidy, with a double bed, a compact seating area with a TV, and a good size bathroom. We were surprised to see a small selection of fruit and chocolate left for us on the table, which definitely went down well.
There are coffee and tea making facilities, and a good size cupboard to hang your belongs. There are double doors, that lead to a communal area.
Food and drink
The food at Hotel Sigiriya is very good, we had a buffet evening meal, with a variety of different foods to eat. You can choose from Savory and sweet dishes, to Sri Lankan spicy food, to western foods, or mix it up and have both.
The food served was nicely set out, was to a high standard, and most importantly tasted very good. Our favorite dish would have to either be a plain hopper or egg hopper, which is a traditional Sri Lankan dish, and to follow, a selection of sweet desserts.
Hotel Sigiriya has one main restaurant, but you can order room service, have your meal at the bar, or even at the pool side under the night sky, with Sigiriya Rock in the distance.
To stay at Hotel Sigiriya in our opinion is quite reasonable. It’s a luxury hotel, in a good location, with stunning facilities, rooms and friendly and helpful staff, for which the price is reflective of this.
Depending on when you plan to visit, you could be looking at a superior room costing anything upwards of $80.00.
