Tell us a little about yourself such as your name? Where you are from? What are your travel plans? Where you are in the world? etc
Hi there, my name is Jessy Lipperts, originally from The Netherlands but living in Cape Town, South Africa since 2003 where I started my own boutique travel company in 2004. At the moment I’m getting ready to go on a road trip to the beautiful Wild Coast of South Africa to spend some down time there after Christmas. My daughter is 6 years old and together we go on adventures as much as possible. My daughter has travelled to 8 countries and I have been to 42 countries so we still have a long bucket list.

1. Where has been your best travel destination and why?
Both my daughter and I absolutely loved our holiday to Mauritius. We first stayed for 1 week in an all-inclusive resort and the 2nd week I rented a car and we stayed in airbnbs and guesthouses to explore the island. It felt like a paradise island and we totally fell in love with it. The soft sand, the turquoise see and the amazingly friendly people, my daughter wanted to stay for 1000 nights (and me too to be honest).
2. What’s your favourite thing about travelling?
To meet wonderful people and do new discoveries each time. The surprise element because our assumption are so often wrong.
3. Can you tell us a travel adventure that springs to mind, be that scary, exciting, happy or sad? etc
Oh gosh there are so many. My personal one was a hot air balloon trip over the Namib Desert in Namibia which was totally unforgettable, beautiful and incredibly decadent. The look on my daughter’s face when she saw the Eiffel Tower for the first time was priceless. She goes to the French School so they talked about it a lot.
4. If a traveller was to visit your country, what’s the one meal that shouldn’t be missed?
To enjoy a Snoek Braai! A local game fish rubbed with garlic and apricot jam slow cooked on the barbeque was MY first braai (= BBQ) in South Africa and it still waters my mouth when I think back of it.
5. Do you get home sick, and if so how do you overcome this?
Hmm. not really. I love my home and I feel grateful that I have best of both worlds. I would say I travel 3 months out of 12. 9 months out of 12, I live in one of the most beautiful cities in the world which is Cape Town in South Africa.
6. What is your travel style?
Light weight, easy going, anything between camping, glamping, adventure and 5 star. I just love it all!
7. Do you have any travel tips? Always ask yourself: What’s the worse that can happen really?
Which usually is nothing in particular so off you go on adventures and explore!
8. What inspired you to travel?
When I was super small I wanted to become a truck driver because I figured they get to go everywhere and that’s where I wanted to go! Now that I have a daughter she inspires me to come up with new adventures. She asked me if we could go see the Eiffel Tower and so we did!
9. What has travel taught you?
We all have much more in common than some people would like to believe. Travel and find friends and good people everywhere.
10. How does travel make you feel?
I just LOVE it. From waiting at the airport, to sitting in a train to taking a local bus and getting aching feed from walking a city. I really just love it all!
