Parkview Hotel Ireland Review

On our recent trip to Ireland, we stayed at Parkview Hotel in Newtown Mount Kennedy, while we road tripped around Co. Wicklow. We share with you, our experience of our stay in our review on Parkview Hotel Ireland.

Location:

Parkview Hotel Ireland, is in a remote location and not easy to get to without the use of a vehicle.

However, if you have a vehicle and taking a road trip around beautiful Co. Wicklow, then it’s ideal to get to all the things to do in Co. Wicklow. And only 22 miles from Dublin.

In our opinion, Parkview Hotel, was in the perfect location to get us to Enniskerry, Glendalough, Greystones and Bray with a vehicle.

Service:

From check in to check out the staff are fantastic. They’re very polite and helpful, efficient and kind. We really couldn’t fault the staff.

The only issue we encountered, was the bedside lamp not working. We reported this to reception, who fixed it by the same day.

On the first night of our stay, we had a meal at Parkview Hotel in Ireland, the staff at the bar and restaurant were just amazing. We asked to have a taste of Guiness before we purchased it (we had never drunk Guinness before), the staff happily gave us a small sample.

We enjoyed the Guinness and ordered our first half pint of the gold stuff.

Rooms:

The rooms are to a high standard with the basic amenities such as, double bed, chair and table, TV, shower over the bath and spacious cupboards.

The only negative we would find with the room, was that there is no safe within the room. There should be somewhere to lock your valuable items in, but without the safe, this isn’t possible.

Although it isn’t advisable to take valuable with you on holiday, but if you do and you don’t want to take it everywhere, then the safe would keep your belongings as safe as possible.

The hot water wasn’t a pleasant colour after turning it on, but other than these, we couldn’t find any other faults with the hotel.

Facilities at Parkview Hotel Ireland:

Parkview Hotel offers basic facilities. This is what you can expect when you stay at Parkview Hotel:

Food and drinks

Guests of the hotel have the option of a cooked breakfast or continental breakfast of a morning.

A full Irish breakfast is one to try if you haven’t had it before, but it is very similar to the full English Breakfast.

We enjoyed the breakfast, as it is the most important meal of the day and we definitely couldn’t miss the full Irish breakfast from our things to eat while visiting Ireland.

Guests and non-guests can enjoy a meal or a drink in the bar and restaurant at Parkview Hotel Ireland.

The restaurant food in our opinion was exceptional. The food was cooked to perfection, had great flavour and the portion sizes are good. The meal certainly filled us up.

If we were to pick at any negatives from the food and drinks, it would have to be the breakfasts. Some mornings, when ordering poached egg, the yolk wasn’t always runny.

This is just a minor detail, but eggs do need to be cooked to perfection.

Parking

The biggest bonus was the large size off road parking.

As we hired a vehicle for a road trip around Co. Wicklow, we needed a hotel that had parking. Which Parkview Hotel Ireland certainly had.

No matter the time of day or night, we always found parking in the off-road parking at the hotel.

Price:

For a 3-night stay, in our opinion the price was very reasonable.

We stayed in a double room with breakfast for two adults at £251.62 (€296.98, $345.95). This works out at about £83.87 (€97.01, $113.00) per night for 2 adults.

It isn’t a budget friendly hotel, but for the standard of service, it’s location and parking, we felt it’s still quite a good deal.

Cleanliness:

The hotel was clean and tidy and the rooms were kept to a high level of cleanliness and kept clean every day.

The bed’s remade every day, cleaned to a great standard, which left us feeling so relaxed after a long day on the road.

If you are travelling in Co. Wicklow, and need a really good, reliable hotel to stay at, at a very reasonable price, then we would recommend Parkview Hotel.

We loved this part of Ireland, and would return again in the future. And when we do, we would book our stay at the Parkview Hotel again.
