Parkview hotel, is located in a small town of Newtownmountkennedy in the County of Wicklow Ireland. The hotel is about 22 miles from Dublin, and has the longest town name in Ireland.
The Parkview Hotel is in a prime location if you have a vehicle to get around County Wicklow. We found it was quite central to get us to Enniskerry, and to Glendalough, and also very easy to get to Greystones, Bray and even to Dublin. If you do not have a vehicle, then you are likely to find it more remote, as public transport will take travel to the main towns and villages in the area. The big highlight with the hotel is the large free car parking at the back, there are plenty of parking spaces available day or night.
The overall service at the hotel is fantastic, they are very quick, polite and helpful. When we checked in, the receptionist, was very efficient, kind and friendly. If we had any questions, they were always there to help, and gave some very helpful tips. Our first night in the hotel, we noticed the bedside table light wasn’t working, the following morning we reported this to reception, and by the evening the light was fixed and fully working. The staff in the bar and restaurant, again very polite, helpful and always pleasant. We even asked if we could have a small glass to taste the Guinness, since we had never drunk it before, and the bar staff happily gave us a small sample, before I ordered my half pint of Guinness.
We were pleasantly surprised with the rooms, they are of a good size, standard amenities, such as bed, chair and table, TV, shower over the bath. The cupboard is very big and spacious, but we could only find some very small negatives, firstly there are no safes in the room, we did leave our valuables (which is a risk) inside our bags in the room, and nothing was moved or stolen. Secondly the hot water came out in a yellow colour, which did put us off using the water.
Food and drink:
The Parkview Hotel, have a very good food and drinks menu. The breakfast has a small selection of cooked foods, which includes a full Irish breakfast and continental breakfast which you may have both. As breakfast is the most important part of the day, it is important that we ate enough to keep us going until our next meal. The restaurant food again is exceptional, we both had something different, and both really enjoyed the food. If there were to be any negatives, then we would point out that some mornings the poached egg wasn’t always with a runny yolk, but this is just pulling very minor details here.
If you want to know how to eat healthily while travelling, we will be creating a blog post about this, so check out our website regularly.
The price we felt was very reasonable, for the location and the hotel. We had Bed & Breakfast costing about £251.62 for 3 nights. The hotel is to a good standard, which is represented in the price.
We found throughout the hotel, was very clean and tidy. The rooms are always kept clean, and would be cleaned every day. Our beds where always remade every day, and felt the entire stay at the hotel was made easy and relaxing for us.
If you are travelling in County Wicklow, and need a really good and reliable hotel to stay, at a very reasonable price, then we would recommend Parkview Hotel. We loved this part of Ireland, and would return again in the future, and when we do, we would book our stay at the Parkview Hotel again.
